Turn a shop's paper menu into an ordering site in one afternoon.
Counterkit is a site kit for freelancers and small agencies who build for local shops. Claude Code reads a photo of the menu and sets up the site. Customers build a cart, and the order lands on the shop's WhatsApp as a ready-made message.
It comes with the intake form, pricing sheet, proposal and handover docs that Halvex Labs, a working web studio in Hyderabad, uses with its own clients.
Founders price until Monday 30 November 2026, 23:59 IST, or the first 30 buyers. Then $79.
- No backend to run
- No commission on orders
- Free hosting on Cloudflare
What the shop's customers seeFrom menu photo to live site
A recording of the cloud-kitchen demo below, a fictional shop, on a phone: browse the menu, add items, switch to Telugu, send the order and get the UPI QR code with the exact amount. Like every demo, it shows the order message instead of sending it.
The whole job, start to finish: a photo of a paper menu goes in, and an order arrives on the shop's phone at the end.
Browse the menu: no app, no login
Pick a size, tap Add; the cart keeps the total
Switch the page to Telugu or Hindi
Fill in name and address; the order becomes one WhatsApp message
Pay by UPI: QR code, UPI ID, exact amount
Not in this recording: making the site. That part happens on your computer. Claude Code reads the photo of the paper menu into shop.json and flags any price it isn't sure of, then builds the site and deploys it to Cloudflare.

What the shop owner gets
A page their customers can order from. No app to install, no login, and no platform taking a cut of each order.
- Orders on WhatsApp, with no commission
- Each order arrives as a tidy message with an order number, the items, the total, the customer's name and address or pickup.
- A menu in English, Hindi and Telugu
- Customers switch language on the page. You can add more languages from a template. The Hindi and Telugu text is a first draft made with AI; have a native speaker check it before a real shop goes live.
- UPI with the exact amount
- The shop's UPI QR code and UPI ID, with the order total written out. A Pix key or any payment link works instead.
- Open or closed, directions, reviews
- An open-now badge from the shop's hours, and buttons to call, get directions and write a review.
- A light page for any phone
- Static pages built to load quickly on mobile data, with no app and no account for the customer.
- A guide in their own language
- The handover guide shows them how to change a price, mark an item out of stock and read their orders. Its Hindi and Telugu versions are a first draft made with AI.

Four Claude Code skills
/new-client- Turns your intake answers into shop.json, picks a theme, then builds and previews the site.
/menu-from-photo- Reads a photo of a paper menu into items and prices. Anything it isn't sure about is flagged for you to check.
/deploy- Publishes the site to your free Cloudflare account and walks you through connecting the shop's domain.
/handover- Writes the owner's guide in their language: changing a price, marking an item out of stock, reading orders.
No Claude Code? Everything also works by editing shop.json by hand and running the build yourself. The docs cover both ways.
The business pack
The part free tutorials skip: how to find shop clients, price the work, pitch it and look after the site afterwards. Written from a working web studio's own practice. You set your own prices.

The selling flow: demo first
- Pick 10-15 shops in one area
- Walk in (cafes: call first, then visit)
- Show your demo; place a test order in front of them
- Photograph their menu card (with permission)
- Build a preview with their menu, send it within the hour
- They like it: scope message, then 50% advance by UPI
- Full details, owner checks prices, go live (usually 2-7 days)
- Handover; offer the care plan once
- A week later: ask for a referral
- Start hereThe whole selling flow on one page.
- Outreach scriptsWalk-in, phone, WhatsApp and Instagram, in English, Hindi and Telugu. The Hindi and Telugu scripts are a first draft made with AI.

- Handover checklistFor the day before and the day of go-live.
- Care-plan SOPWhat to do each month for clients on the care plan.
- Monthly report templateA short report for care-plan clients.

Who it's for
It's for you if
- You build websites for local shops, or want to: cloud kitchens, restaurants, bakeries, kirana stores, tiffin services and cafes.
- You work where shops already take orders on WhatsApp. India first, and also the UAE, Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, Malaysia, Singapore, Brazil, Indonesia and Mexico.
- You use Claude Code, or you're happy to edit a JSON file and run a build command.
- Your shops take payment by UPI, Pix or a payment link.
It's not for you if
- You want passive income. This is a tool for doing client work. Finding and keeping clients is still your job; the business pack helps with it.
- Your shops need card checkout, delivery tracking, stock control or a POS built in. There is no backend.
- Customers where you work don't order on WhatsApp.
- You want to resell the kit itself. The license covers the sites you build, not reselling the kit.
What hosting costs
The sites are static files served by Cloudflare Workers, on the shop's or your own free Cloudflare account. Cloudflare's pricing page says it plainly:
Requests to static assets are free and unlimited.
The free plan does have limits, such as how many files one site can have. They're listed on Cloudflare's limits page. Check the current numbers there before you quote a client, since Cloudflare can change them.
The cost a shop usually does have is a domain name, if they want their own. That's paid yearly to a domain registrar.
Questions
Do I need Claude Code?
It's the fast way: the four skills do the menu entry, the build, the deploy and the handover guide. Claude Code needs a paid Claude plan or an Anthropic API key. Without it, you can still edit shop.json by hand and run the build yourself. The docs cover both ways.
Does it work on Windows?
Yes. The kit is made on Windows 11 and works in PowerShell and Git Bash. The doctor script (tools/doctor.ps1) checks Node.js, Git, Wrangler and Claude Code, and tells you how to fix anything that's missing, including the common Windows PATH problems.
What about Mac and Linux?
They should. The starter is a plain Node.js and Astro project, and tools/doctor.sh runs the same checks as the Windows script. The kit is built and tested on Windows 11. doctor.sh has been tested with bash 3.2 (the version macOS ships) and on Linux, but the kit hasn't been tested on a real Mac yet. The kit's changelog lists what has been tested.
Does the shop need the WhatsApp Business API?
No. The order opens in WhatsApp through a standard click-to-chat link with the message already written, and the customer taps send. It works with the shop's existing WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business number. There's no API account and no per-message fee.
Does the site take payments?
It shows the customer how to pay. By default that's the shop's UPI QR code, UPI ID and the exact amount. It can show a Pix key or any payment link (Razorpay, Stripe, PayPal and so on) instead. The shop confirms payment the way it does today; the kit never handles money.
There's no "open your UPI app" button by default, because NPCI stopped person-to-person UPI intent payments from 1 April 2024. You can switch it on for shops that are verified merchants.
Which languages are included?
English, Hindi and Telugu, with a language switcher on the page and a template for adding more.
The Hindi and Telugu text is a first draft made with AI. Have a native speaker check it before a real shop goes live; the kit lists every string to check, from the page text to the owner's guide and the outreach scripts.
Do I get updates?
Yes, 12 months of updates are included. New versions are delivered through Gumroad, in the same place as your download.
How many client sites can I build?
As many as you like, for your own clients. A Kit license is for one person; the Agency Edition covers up to 5 people in your agency. What you can't do is resell or share the kit itself. The license summary has the details.
What if it isn't right for me?
Email within 7 days of buying and you'll get a full refund through Gumroad. See the refund policy.
Why is the price lower in my country?
Gumroad applies purchasing power parity (PPP) pricing. It lowers the price automatically based on the country you buy from, using World Bank data that Gumroad refreshes weekly. You'll see your price at checkout. How Gumroad's PPP works.
How do I get help?
Email hello@halvexlabs.com. Agency Edition buyers get priority replies, within 72 hours.
Who makes Counterkit?
Counterkit is made by Halvex Labs, a small web studio in Hyderabad, India, that builds these sites for local shops.
